Definition (English)

The persistent narrative that workers displaced by robots will be retrained for higher-value roles, despite evidence that retraining programs reach a fraction of affected workers and successful career transitions are the exception. The mythology serves to defer political action on displacement by promising a future solution that organizational data suggests rarely materializes at scale.
