Scope of "NoDerivatives"
------------------------

The NoDerivatives clause applies to the compendium as a curated scholarly
work. You may NOT:

  * Publish modified or extended term definitions under the AUGMANITAI name
  * Publish a "revised" version of the compendium
  * Distribute a re-ordered or re-classified subset as if it were AUGMANITAI
  * Combine AUGMANITAI terms with other terms in a way that blurs authorship

You MAY:

  * Quote individual term definitions in research papers with proper citation
  * Reference terms by URI in your own knowledge graphs
  * Build tools that LOOK UP AUGMANITAI terms without modifying them
  * Train AI models on AUGMANITAI data under the AI-training exception
    below, provided the attribution and non-commercial clauses are honored

AI-training clause
------------------

AI/ML training on AUGMANITAI data is PERMITTED for non-commercial research
with attribution. Commercial AI training requires a separate commercial
license from the author (see LICENSE-summary.md for contact information).

Scope of "NonCommercial"
------------------------

"Commercial" is defined per the Creative Commons definition: primarily
intended for or directed toward commercial advantage or monetary compensation.

Permitted non-commercial uses include:
  * Academic research and teaching
  * Non-profit educational use
  * Personal study
  * Open-source tools that themselves do not charge for access to
    AUGMANITAI-derived data

Prohibited commercial uses include:
  * Incorporating AUGMANITAI data into a paid product
  * Selling AUGMANITAI-annotated datasets
  * Using AUGMANITAI as a differentiator in a paid service without a
    separate commercial agreement
