# AUGMANITAI Code of Conduct

*Adapted from the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1 — https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/1/code_of_conduct/*

## Ethical Baseline

All community members, contributors, and maintainers are bound by the
**Ethical Disclaimer §1–§20** of this project ([`../DISCLAIMER.md`](../DISCLAIMER.md)).
Participating in the community means acknowledging that AUGMANITAI is:

- **Descriptive, not normative** (§1) — naming a phenomenon is not endorsement.
- **Non-peer-reviewed longitudinal n=1 terminological priority deposit** (§11; see [METHODOLOGY.md §2.0](../METHODOLOGY.md#20-study-design-longitudinal-n1)).
- **Not a diagnostic, medical, psychological, legal, or screening instrument** (§5, §6, §13).
- **18+ only** (§7).
- **Restricted in application** (§20) — the vocabulary must not be used as a diagnostic label, medical classification, psychological screening, legal categorization, military or intelligence classification, HR screening, credit scoring, insurance assessment, state surveillance, or profiling mechanism.

Contributors who attempt to reframe, repurpose, or redeploy AUGMANITAI
terminology for §20-restricted applications violate the scope of the
project and may be removed under the Enforcement section.

## Our Pledge

We as members, contributors, and maintainers of the AUGMANITAI terminology project pledge to make participation in our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community — one that advances rigorous scientific terminology work at the intersection of human cognition and AI systems.

## Our Standards

Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment:

- Demonstrating empathy and kindness toward other people
- Being respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences
- Giving and gracefully accepting constructive feedback on term proposals
- Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes
- Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals but for the overall community and the quality of the terminology compendium
- Citing sources accurately when proposing new terms or contesting existing definitions
- Respecting the ISO 704 / ISO 1087 / ISO 30042-informed methodological foundations of the project (ISO-inspired, not ISO-certified — see §16)

Examples of unacceptable behavior:

- The use of sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
- Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment
- Publishing others' private information without explicit permission
- Academic misconduct: fabrication, plagiarism, fraudulent citation, or misrepresentation of another researcher's work
- Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional scholarly setting

## Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces. Examples of representing our community include using an official email address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at a conference, workshop, or online event.

## Enforcement

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported to the project maintainer at the contact listed in `SECURITY.md`. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.

All community leaders are obligated to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident.

## Enforcement Guidelines

Project maintainers will follow these Community Impact Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:
